I being an Indian was especially happy with Abduls. This was a brilliant place to eat. The chicken Nihari was very good. Mr Abdul came to us and we had a wonderful discussion about the food and life in general. His service was very professional. One thing I particularly liked about the place was the food had very less oil unlike all the other indian places. It was very healthy food with a good detail to the flavours. Mr Abdul certainly has a passion for cooking good food and this shows in his place. Very good place, have a try some time :)
Been going for about 12y, tried loads of times their Pontefract and Wakefield Broadway branches mainly and once the other Wakefield branch. Good food, cooked on order, can get v busy and might be bit of a wait even if the chef's seem to be working as fast as they can on the open kitchen. Nice to see them employing local staff and ladies at the counter and as chefs. Staff always polite. You can get regular style or spicier Asian style for many of the dishes. The website could certainly improve especially the menu section which is downright lousy and not use friendly. Instead of giving the entire many and having a small icon next to each of the items whether mild medium or hot, or is divided into seedings and you have to click multiple times on each section to view the items and then go back to select the other sections. No matter how many times you go through the menu you still can't find the best item like Punjabi Pulav Lamb on the website menu. The biryani I think it's lousy and isn't authentic as it had mixed vegetable broccoli etc which I found nauseating and not authentic and I know my biryanis. Here I go for Punjabi Pulao Lamb which is excellent. Lamb quality is excellent and tender in all their lamb items. Mango lassi, Papaddom, Lamb Nihari, Hyderabadi korma are good. Veg samosa, sheek kebab, lamb chops is good too. Meal deals seem decent value but don't have lamb unfortunately so almost never go for them. The potholes on the access road are huge, wish someone spent a few pounds to repair those humongous potholes! Wish there was an online option for ordering as some of the newer ones struggle to find some of the items on the ordering screen. It might be faster for me to order online and just go for collection. The online ordering option seems to be "coming" for ages! I would obviously love to have a home delivery service. I am surprised this branch didn't seem to have a delivery service have seen some delivery chaps visiting their other Wakefield branch. Their Pontefract branch didn't have deliveries either.
5 stars all the way i have been a customer of abduls since 2001 best indian restaurant in the UK hands down.... you cant beat it just wish they had a resturant in Dundee come on abdul ;0)
We have lived in wakefield for 8 years and only just found this gem... Amazing food.
Recently moved to Wakefield. This place was recommended by our neighbours who love it here! I had lamb chops starter and can honestly say that they were the best chops I've ever eaten. For main I had a lamb special - portion was huge but I finished it all. 10/10
